The Rev. David García
The Faith of the People in the Art of the San Antonio Missions

The Rev. David H. García is the Archdiocesan Director of the Old Spanish Missions in San Antonio. The four missions are active parish churches that are part of the San Antonio Missions National Historic Park and, along with the Alamo, are now a World Heritage site.

García served as rector of San Fernando Cathedral in San Antonio from 1995 to 2008. During his time there, he produced an award-winning weekly televised Mass, La Santa Misa, shown by satellite throughout North and South America.

He has been an ecumenical and interfaith leader in San Antonio and has been involved in numerous civic projects, including the renovation of Main Plaza in downtown San Antonio.

García holds two master’s degrees from Notre Dame University, and was a Charles Merrill Fellow at both Harvard Divinity School and Notre Dame. He received a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s University.

All lectures will be held at 7 p.m. on the St. Mary’s University campus. Free and open to the public.
