The St. Mary's School of Law and the Catholic Lawyers' Guild of San Antonio invite members of the legal community from all faiths to the 69th Annual Red Mass at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14, at San Fernando Cathedral.

The Most Rev. Gustavo Garcia-Siller, M.Sp.S., Archbishop of San Antonio will be the principal celebrant and homilist.

Schedule of Events:

5:45 p.m., Processional

6 p.m.  Red Mass begins

The custom of a special mass for the judicial community arose in France, England and Italy in the early 13th century to mark the opening of the courts of law and to ask guidance for all who seek justice.  It became known as Red Mass from the color of the priests' vestments and judges' robes.

This tradition continues today in San Antonio as a time for members of the legal community of all faiths to come together for the cause of justice.
