"Heeding the Call"
Featuring
Carolyn Woo, Ph.D.,
Distinguished President’s Fellow for Global Development at Purdue University

The 2019-2020 MacTaggart Lecture Series has focused on the challenges and opportunities ahead as the Catholic Church works to re-engage with the community by presenting its final lecture on the theme, A Church in Crisis Moves to the Future.

What are the needs of the Church since facing abuse and other crises? What does the Church – and Christ – call us to today? Carolyn Woo will discuss the call of responsibility, healing and moving on in the future.

Carolyn Y. Woo served as President and CEO of Catholic Relief Services (CRS), the official international humanitarian agency of the Catholic community in the United States, from 2012 to 2016. CRS was founded in 1943 by the Catholic bishops of the United States to serve survivors of World War II in Europe. Since then, it has become one of the world's largest and most respected international relief and development agencies, each year reaching more than 130 million people in nearly 100 countries. She arrived at CRS in January 2012 after a distinguished academic career. Woo served as dean of the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business from 1997 to 2011.

St. Mary’s University welcomes you to a free, annual lecture series featuring men and women who have shaped the Catholic intellectual tradition − a tradition at the heart of the educational enterprises at St. Mary’s University.

Free and open to the public. Please park in Lots D or H.
