McNair Scholars Program

The Ronald E. McNair Post-baccalaureate Achievement Program will host the annual Summer Research Symposium on Friday, July 5. The Summer Research Experience is the most intense and rewarding part of the McNair Scholars Program. At the end of the eight-week intensive research experience, scholars present their original work in an open, professional setting to their peers, mentors, and colleagues across campus at the McNair Summer Research Symposium.

The program is designed to prepare undergraduate students for doctoral studies through involvement in research and other scholarly activities. One of the eight federally funded TRiO programs, the program was founded in 1996 in honor of Ronald E. McNair, PhD, laser physicist and Challenger space shuttle astronaut.
McNair programs strive to increase the number of well-prepared underrepresented individuals working in the sciences and the professoriate.
