Join Professor Van Hoy's Latin American history class as they hear guest speaker Karin Peters speak about her Texas Internment Roots Tour. Members of the St. Mary's University campus community are invited to sit in on the presentation by Peters.

About the Texas Internment Roots Tour

Peters is flying to San Antonio from Costa Rica to be joined by her daughter, Ana Morse, from Manhattan. Both will make a pilgrimage to Crystal City to return to the site of the former internment camp for the first time since Peters was born 75 years ago. Peters was baby number 12 to be born in the camp.

Peters' pilgrimage will be followed by a presentation to  Van Hoy's Latin American History class at St. Mary's University, which will be joined by UTSA students by live feed.

Following her visit to St. Mary's, Peters will visit the official Texas State History Musuem, to view the launch of the physical exhibit on German American Internment curated by St. Mary's professor, Van Hoy. Peters will also visit the Briscoe Center for American History at the University of Texas at Austin.
